Style:

Style is a particular way of doing something and when it comes to fashion it means how an individual is reflecting themselves in front of others. Style in fashion refers to a particular look or mode of dress that is unique to an individual or cultural group. Style encompasses a wide range of elements including clothing, accessories, hair, makeup, and body language. It is a reflection of one’s personality, mood, and cultural influences. It is the manner of creating the elements of fashion. For example, if one is wearing a saree with a high-neck blouse it is her style, but when other people admit it and take it as a style it becomes the fashion. So, style begets fashion and is taken as a unique manner of fashion.

Basic or classic:

The term “classic fashion” describes trends that have been popular for a long time and have a timeless appeal. These fashions are distinguished by their simplicity, elegance, and adaptability, and they frequently use muted hues, crisp lines, and traditional shapes. Little black dresses, white shirts, as well as trench coats are examples of basic clothing pieces that are regarded as essentials for a classic wardrobe.

Classic fashions are a sensible investment for people who value quality above trendiness since they last and may be worn season after season. Because it is adaptable and can be dressed up or down to fit any occasion, classic fashion is frequently preferred by individuals who want to look polished and sophisticated.

Fad:

Fad is a more uncertainble word for a fashion designer. Because it can either makes a designer’s life more interesting or tenser. Sometimes something appears on the fashion scene that captures the imagination, only to fizzle out in short duration.

After all, fad can be denoted as a short lived fashion, staying for a very little duration of period or time, acceptable by only a certain group of people. In maximum time they are very costly and every one cannot afford to buy it.

Fashion Forecasting:

What do you do before buying cloth? You would check on the media to see which one is on trend right now. Fashion forecasting is the process of predicting and analyzing future trends in the fashion industry. It involves identifying emerging trends in color, fabric, silhouettes, and styles, as well as studying consumer behavior and cultural shifts. Fashion forecasters use a combination of market research, trend analysis, and intuition to create a comprehensive picture of the fashion landscape in the future. This information is then used by fashion designers, manufacturers, and retailers to create products that are in line with consumer demand and the latest fashion trends. This trend is broadcasted in media which helps us to find out the upcoming fashion trend.  Fashion forecasting includes some ways;

  • Survey: A fashion survey generally portrays to take the opinions of the people on how fashion would be according to them. By surveying opinions, it becomes easier to produce new products according to people’s thoughts.
  • Market research: evaluating market needs and demands and involving the shortcomings of the new production.
  • Sales records: Counting the sales record and deciding which elements are sold more than others. It helps to include more products of that style to sell it more.

Trend:

Fashion trend is the most changeable term in fashion. It is the styling ideas that major collections have in common. Fashion trends are influenced by several factors which include economical, political, social and technological. Fashion forecasters can use this information to help determine growth or decline of a particular trend. Sometimes a new trend appears in small doses until it spreads to other collections. As the mass media notices similarities between collections and highlights them, the media exposure also helps establish the trends. But if the market becomes flooded with a new trend, consumers may react negatively to the overexposure.

Conclusion:

Fashion is constantly evolving and changing and with each era of life comes a new style and trends. Fashion reflects the attitudes of a society more than any other art form. Like art, fashion is a material record of the ideals that swayed the nations at the time of their creation.
